“Too Much Pain for Only One Person”: Lou Ferrigno, Phil Heath Join Disheartened Bodybuilding World in Supporting Flex Wheeler After Latest Surgery News

Flex Wheeler may have never claimed the title of Mr. Olympia, but that does not restrict him from holding a spot amongst the bodybuilding elite. After undergoing nine surgeries in just 11 weeks, Flex’s days of pain are far from over. In a recent Instagram post, the bodybuilding legend posted a video wherein he updated the fans that he is again going in for another surgery.

Posting from the hospital bed, the legend remained surrounded by machines. The bodybuilding community stood out in solidarity with Flex and extended their wishes as the latter prepared for his ‘rotator cuff surgery.’

Prayers and Wishes pour for Flex Wheeler 

The four times Arnold Classic winner, Kenneth “Flex” Wheeler, best described by Arnold Schwarzenegger as one of the greatest bodybuilders, is a man of indomitable spirit. Flex did not just have to compete with competitors on stage but also with his health. Having undergone multiple surgeries and several physical setbacks, the bodybuilder is yet again in the hospital preparing for surgery.

Ever since Flex shared the update, prayers came in numbers. Seeing his good friend in pain, Phil Heath could only manage to send his prayers with folded hands. As Lou Ferrigno motivated Flex, he dropped in a comment to remind him that “You’re one HELL of a CHAMP 🦾.” Besides sharing Flex’s video on his Instagram story, with the caption “Please recover quick my friend.”

Monstro Coach also took to the comments section. Joining others, he wrote, “Recover quick, brother. Big hug from this friend from Portugal.” As Coach remarked, “Too much pain for only one person,” others remain optimistic. Praying “hope it works better,” fans pour out their hearts for Flex with words of encouragement.

Wheeler and his never-ending tussle with surgeries

Early in the 2000s, the unexpected result changed his life’s trajectory forever. Cutting short his bodybuilding career, he got diagnosed with a ‘rare kidney disease.’ After diagnosis, he had to bid his bodybuilding dreams farewell, for he could no longer keep up with the rigorous training and diet.

Throughout his life, The Sultan of Symmetry had undergone almost 40 surgeries. The recovery process was never easy for him. He found the pain unbearable. The escalating circulation difficulties left him no choice but to get his leg amputated. Though Flex has now taken an indefinite break from bodybuilding, he is seen regularly working out at the gym. The student of martial art expert Bruce Lee still continues to practice the art.
