Hollywood heartthrob Orlando Bloom rose to stardom with his top-notch performances in The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises. Another facet of his versatile skill set has been his consistent dedication to fitness. The British actor never fails to make headlines for flexing his bulging biceps or jacked physique. More recently, Bloom, the Chief Wellness Officer of the supplement brand Form Nutrition, has been working harder to gain a bulky body for his upcoming film Red Right Hand. And the actor is training under none other than Peter Park, who has coached the world’s biggest athletes, including Lance Armstrong.

Orlando Bloom became serious about fitness in his 20s

I was a skinny kid with a fast metabolism growing up. I broke a few bones early on in life from being a bit reckless,” revealed Orlando Bloom during his interview with Men’s Journal. The actor broke his back in his early 20s after falling from a three-storied building. Luckily, he survived and began paying attention to his fitness. Since then, he has been performing heavy weight lifting.

Bloom also talked about a certain scene in his upcoming film where he gets up shirtless and performs a “bunch of pushups.” He found it to be a fun way of testing his endurance and revealed that he did up to 190 pushups, as he was keen to know how far he could go strength-wise.

According to Orlando Bloom, it was his trainer, Peter Park, who helped him meet his potential by making workouts challenging. “I have a few guys who help me keep the workouts challenging—who are there when I need some guidance. Right now, I’ve been training with Peter Park, who’s worked with athletes like Lance Armstrong,” explained the actor.

Former cyclist Lance Armstrong’s trainer Peter Park is a three-time winner of the World’s Toughest Triathlon. He possesses 28 years of experience training elite athletes, big-screen celebrities, and top touring musicians as a strength and conditioning coach.

Park worked with Armstrong when the cyclist was planning to come out of retirement in 2009.

How did Peter Park train Lance Armstrong?

After announcing his retirement in 2005, former cyclist Lance Armstrong desired to make his comeback for the Tour de France in 2009. To train his body to the high standards of the tour, he hired Peter Park in 2008. The celebrated trainer believed that the cyclist had an upper body of a 12-year-old girl and the lower body of a bodybuilder.

Park decided to work on Lance’s core strength, leg power, and on improving a few body imbalances. He took the cyclist through various phases of training that included warm-ups, core circuits, strength circuits, and lastly, metabolic circuits. Within a year, Park’s effective workout routine helped Lance to build a competition-worthy physique before the greatest cycling event in 2009.

Besides Lance Armstrong and Orlando Bloom, Park has also trained baseball pitcher Justin Verlander and outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. He also trained bodybuilding legend Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife Maria Shriver. Hopefully, Bloom’s bulky physique under the training of Peter Park will leave the fans in awe in theaters.
