Nick Walker is riding high on the wave of success he found at last year’s Mr. Olympia. The bodybuilding icon won the bronze medal at Mr. Olympia 2022, moving up two places from his fifth-place finish in 2021. Walker aims to continue his successful run at the upcoming Arnold Classic 2023 and win the contest. The fan-favorite bodybuilder also stays connected with his 12 million Instagram followers, posting regular physique updates. In such an update, fans noticed a mysterious mark on Walker’s shin and a reduction in his varicose veins.

Fans began speculating if Walker got treatment for his condition or had injured his legs during a workout. On January 21, 2023, the People’s Champion appeared on the OlympiaTV YouTube channel with hosts Shawn Ray, Flex Wheeler, Bob Cicherillo, and Terrick El Guindy. During their conversation, El Guindy asked Walker if he could reveal what happened to his shin.

Nick Walker puts the rumors to rest

About 18 min into the nearly hour-long conversation, El Guindy said he saw pictures on the internet indicating that the People’s Champion solved the varicose vein issue. “Is that correct?” asked the host. However, Walker seemed amused with the question and clarified that he didn’t treat the condition. “No, what happened was, I was deadlifting,” said The Mutant.

“When I deadlift I rub against my shins and that’s really all that happened,” the Mr. Olympia bronze medalist explained. As a result of the heavy metal barbell rubbing against his shin, a scrape mark appeared. The scar turned red and might have appeared to swell. This put an end to the rumors.

Fans of the bodybuilder also got to know he didn’t sustain any serious injuries. Six weeks out from the Arnold Classic 2023, Walker feels better than he did before last year’s Mr. Olympia, and an injury at this point could jeopardize his prep. After Walker answered his question El Guindy also asked which bodybuilder may give him the most competition at the upcoming Arnold Classic.

The 2021 Arnold Classic winner named the bodybuilders he believes could challenge him on stage. According to Walker, Samson Dauda and The Giant Killer Shaun Clarida are his biggest competition. He also said Andrew Jacked “could easily beat everyone, but he has a lot of weak points.”
