Sometimes a family name is influential enough to get you places. For Katherine, the eldest daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and wife of famous actor Chris Pratt, this could have been true. Yet, she never let the expectations of society and the responsibilities of her last name get the better of her.

Born in 1989 to Arnold and Maria Shriver, she is more than just the daughter of the “Austrian Oak. Katherine has established her niche as an author and animal activist. Moreover, she has recently been known for her political opinions.

Fans often wonder how upholding her family’s legacy must be for her. While her brothers chose to follow their father’s passion for bodybuilding and acting, she made a different path for herself. Katherine comes from a powerful political family. She is of Irish-German lineage, related to President John F. Kennedy. Hence, politics is not a topic alien to her. But, Katherine opines that she never felt pressurized in any way to follow the tradition herself.

Mrs. Schwarzenegger Pratt has time and again come to defend her father, Arnold, and her husband, Chris over their political views.  She once defended Pratt for being absent from a Joe Biden campaign. Another time, she also supported Arnold in 2017 when he faced a tiff with Trump.

But, when asked in an interview, Katherine denied ever feeling any pressure to join politics. She said, “They didn’t say, ‘You have to be in politics.” She also added how they never pressurized her to take up acting either. Katherine rather opened up about the great amount of support she received from her parents.

Rather, she said all the advice she received was motivating. “It was very much like follow your heart and follow your dreams. Know that you’re going to have to work really hard to do it…” was what her family would say.

The legacy of the Schwarzenegger family

The Schwarzenegger name has been an influential entity in Hollywood, politics, and bodybuilding for ages. Arnold himself has been a master of all three. He has served as governor of California, won Mr. Olympia 7-times, and starred in action movies. Even his three sons are following a similar route. His son, Joseph Baena, is getting quite popular on social media for a physique similar to Arnold’s. While his other son Patrick is more into acting and business, while Christopher is into academics.

Arnold also gets along pretty well with all his children, especially, Katherine. He has always been a caring and supportive father, never overbearing over his children but loving them all the same. And, this is one of the greatest reasons Arnold is an icon, an emblem of confidence for all his fans.
