Boxing comes across as one of the most-watched sports in the world. These sports have some of the most passionate fans who want non-stop action, round the clock. As one grows up watching legends like Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson, there is another martial arts icon who dug deep into a fan’s heart. When Jackie Chan once called Bruce Lee as the “fastest puncher” in the world, fans knew what he was stressing.

The boxing fraternity is lucky to witness both Ali and Tyson in their prime. They were arguably the greatest boxers of all time. Choosing a person who can overcome these men for the punching title is hard to explore, but Lee came into the picture with a powerful statement. Chan once recalled how Lee punched people and was in awe of his lightning-fast speed.

Don’t shut your eyes!

While filming a movie, Chan recalled when Lee appeared and started doing his thing. “When Bruce Lee kicks, you don’t shut your eyes because when you shut your eyes, you can’t see Bruce Lee kick,” mentioned Chan, who couldn’t shut his eyes for some time. Lee stood at 1.7 meters and weighed 61 kg. For a man who is not as titanic as Tyson or Ali, he landed punches that clocked 190 km/h. The speed is equivalent to a high-speed train hitting you.

He achieved his startling speed and power by practicing Wing Chun, a martial arts technique focused on simplicity, efficiency, and directness. Bruce defined the laws of physics. Hence, Jackie Chan’s statement comparing him to Tyson and Ali would probably make sense. “How fast, just the fast you can be. Even Muhammed Ali, right now Tyson, they punch at you fast. But, you still can see,” said Chan.

Mike Tyson Gets Brutally Honest About Sports Fans

In boxing, the role of a judge remains underrated. They witnessed matches to calculate the significant strikes laid upon a fighter. In fights that Ali and Mike competed in, the blows landed had a knockdown effect, even on the fans. Everyone stood in awe of the talent these men possessed. For some, it is a stressful task to track all the punches. For fans, some striking stats will leave your jaws wide open.

Monster punches ft Mike Tyson!

Where this ranks when compared to Tyson and Ali can be a mystery. We cannot answer some questions because of the simplicity and complexity it possesses.

This statement comes into play when a fan compares the blows landed by Tyson. VOI reported Tyson had a punch that recorded 15 km/h and was equivalent to being hit by a Vespa bike. Although Lee goes beyond that number, the key takeaway would be he produced a powerful punch of 1600 joules. Now, imagine falling from a height of 2.1 meters. It is equivalent to a punch one receives from Iron Mike.

When Ali comes into the picture, some stats will blow your mind. Fans always remember Ali as the fastest heavyweight boxer of all time. In his prime, he could smash a balsa board 16.5 inches away in 19/100 of a second. A blink of an eye measures up to 4/100 seconds, and Ali mastered that art of pure striking at velocity and speed. In 1966, Ali competed in a bout against Brian London and faced the full wrath of those punches. Ali landed 12 jabs in 2.8 seconds, to the amazement of fans in attendance.

Sadly, the lack of social media presence during those times could not unravel the never-ending mysteries of Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, and the immortal Bruce Lee.
