World peace has been disrupted amidst the ongoing European crisis. Several world organizations, including the United Nations, have already started rescue operations, sending medical help to the places affected the most. Doing their part, the most popular chess tournament of the year, Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, and Magnus Carlsen have joined forces to help people in these difficult times.
Unlike the first tournament of the 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, you will not see any Russian Grand Masters competing in the charity cup. However, what stands out the most is the purpose of the charity cup this year, which is more than just to find a champion amidst the 16 Grand Masters competing.
