Nepomniachtchi’s comment on the match

Game 2 saw both players moving out their pieces to perfection. Although Carlsen made some adroit moves to boost his chances, he ended up drawing a 58 move chess game. However, Nepomniachtchi opened up on the game being a boring draw with both players being too cautious.

“Worst game ever played in a World Championship match. In general I think it was a very puzzling game, and I would say that during the game I thought we both are playing not so well, but now I started thinking that, ok, it was just very interesting and very chaotic!” said Nepomniachtchi.

Magnus Carlsen is still the favorite

The genius of Magnus Carlsen is right up there with the best sports personalities. Having a little arrogance mixed with skill, he makes aggressive moves on the chessboard to close out the game. This match, however, is proving to be an extremely tight contest. Like game two, game three ended in a draw as well, with both players fighting it out in a tough battle. Another intense battle in Dubai saw both players shaking it out after 41 moves in a 2hr 42min game.

Carlsen made some unpredictable moves during the match, which led to the game being a draw at the end.

“Re8 is a really, really dumb move because usually you would try to go Re8 without d6. But it turns out even here he was well prepared and he didn’t give me even slight chances to play,” said Carlsen.
