The Kentucky Derby is the biggest and the most popular event when it comes to horseracing. The first Saturday of May, that is, May 6, 2023, will witness the commencement of the 149th Kentucky Derby. The equestrian community will be observing the 150th Kentucky Derby next year. The fiesta for the 150th Kentucky Derby has already begun, especially because it is going to be a milestone.

Churchill Downs, the racetrack, has been the home of the Kentucky Derby since the year 1875, making the Derby to be the longest-running sport in the country. Churchill Downs has announced a series of fan experiences and events which will celebrate the upcoming 2024 Derby, and the list is pretty impressive.

Churchill Downs kicks off the festivities for the 150th Kentucky Derby
The historical racetrack has planned a yearlong celebration before the 150th Derby. They have revealed three major and exclusive affairs for all the fans. Two out of these three are going to be premium dining clubs, and the third is going to be a brand-new paddock area. The official Facebook page of the Kentucky Derby posted a video with a montage showing the history of this famous Derby.

They also announced the countdown to the next year’s Derby, to be held in 2024. In the caption were the words, “Horses and hearts will race. Join us as we begin the countdown to the 150th running of the Kentucky Derby on May 4, 2024, at Derby150.com.” According to Sports Business Journal, the 150th Kentucky Derby will witness numerous changes in Churchill Downs. The Woodford Reserve Paddock Club and Paddock Club Enclosure will provide the attendees with a unique equine experience that will form the core of the races.

The 1895 Club and 1895 Enclosure, which are situated on the west side of the paddock runway, will allow the Derby fans to experience the behind-the-scenes of the racing event as they will be able to witness the saddling stalls. The Spires Terrace and Suites will provide an unobstructed 360-degree view of the entire racetrack along with a special dining area under the Twin Spires. These changes have left the fans stunned.

Fans react to the upcoming milestone in equestrian sports
The Kentucky Derby is the top-notch Derby for a reason, its grandeur is simply unmatched. A fan thought the same, and commented on Kentucky Derby’s Facebook post, saying, “Should be on everyone’s bucket list….it is fabulous!” Another fan quoted the American author Irvin S. Cobb, and commented, “Irvin S. Cobb: “Until you go to Kentucky and with your own eyes behold the Derby, you ain’t never been nowheres and you ain’t never seen nothin.” Truer words have never been spoken.”
