“Thank Goodness”: Internet in Relief as Over 10 Horses Rescued From ‘Scary’ Equestrian Center Fire

The equestrian world is a tranquil oasis where the passion for horses runs deep. The paramount concern of equine lovers revolves around the safety and well-being of these beautiful animals. However, recently, this very real fear came alive in a nightmarish situation in the heart of the Hudson Valley in Patterson, when over 10 horses were rescued from an equestrian center and engulfed in fire. This scary situation swarmed the hearts of the equestrian world and the internet.

The equestrian nightmare in Patterson

In a Facebook post by reporter Blaise Gomez, a heroic horse rescue was highlighted in the Hudson Valley, where around 12 horses were kept. Gomez shared four images of the local fire department’s efforts to rescue the beautiful creatures. The caption of the post read, “HORSES SAVED: Approximately 12 horses were saved by rescuers during a barn fire last Wednesday at High Point Equestrian Center on East Branch Rd. in Patterson, according to Putnam Co. fire officials.” According to the Daily Voice At around 8:20 p.m. at the High Point Equestrian, the fire started in an area where hay was stored inside the barn. Firefighters from the Putnam Lake Fire Department arrived and managed to control a large part of the fire quickly.

However, it was challenging to completely put it out because of the large amount of hay stacked inside. The team had to work hard to remove the hay while ensuring there were no remaining embers that could reignite the fire. Besides the Putnam Lake Fire Department, other nearby fire departments from Patterson, New Fairfield, Carmel, and Brewster also joined forces to tackle the fire and support each other during this incident. Luckily, all 12 horses were rescued safely with the help of sheriff deputies from Putnam County who were at the scene. This rescue led to a collective sigh of relief online as equestrian enthusiasts and passionate horse lovers flooded the comment section.

The fire-rescue mission of the beautiful horses stirred the equestrian community, which expressed their gratitude in the comment section. One person wrote in the comments, “Wow!!! So scary. Thank God they all got out safe.” While one more person shared, “Thank you for saving the horses, and thank you for all your efforts, individually and collectively! And thank you, Blaise, for sharing this…”

One citizen expressed their gratitude to the heroic firefighters, saying, “Thank you to all who rescued these horses. And thank you for all you do in the fire department”. “Thank God for the rescuers!!!” wrote another person. The emotion stirred by the incident showed the community’s love for horses and also highlighted the quick and dedicated efforts of the fire department to save these beautiful animals.
