The 2023 Wasabi Fenway Bowl grabbed El Presidente’s attention, and he hilariously wrote, “The Wasabi Bowl has to be the dumbest sponsorship/company name ever. I legit thought it was just Wasabi sponsoring bowl games, which made no sense.”

Set to go down on December 28, 2023, at Fenway Park in Boston, the game will feature Southern Methodist University (SMU), ranked 17th in college football, going head-to-head with Boston College. In the American Athletic Conference, SMU beat Tulane with a score of 26-14, which helped them secure their 12th conference championship in the history of their football program. SMU has been doing well defensively throughout the season.

The team dominated their conference opponents with an average margin victory of 28.9 points, which is the largest in the NCAA for the 2023 season. Having set a program record by scoring at least 55 points in four games, SMU aims for its 12th win of the year, a milestone achieved only once before in the program’s history. This appearance marks SMU’s first bowl game since 2012, and they are eager to secure their first bowl victory since that year.
