As NCAA Season Nears End, LSU Gymnastics Seniors Opens Up About the ‘Culture’ They Encountered

LSU Gymnastics has had a brilliant season on the NCAA mats through to the end of the regular season. After climbing the podium top in the quad meet last week, the Tigers have retained their 2nd spot on the table heading into senior night. With numerous records to cherish and moments to celebrate, the approaching end has brought along an emotional run for the seniors on the roster.

The 15th of March stands to hold much for the seniors specifically as they mark an end to the regular season. In the wake of the event, the gymnasts today reminisce about their past years on the mats.

An emotional week for the LSU gymnastics seniors

A couple of days ahead of the senior night, the LSU gymnastics Instagram took to the platform to share a clip of the seniors speaking about their journey. “PMAC on Friday night, that’s all I gotta say,” senior Sierra Ballard states to open the video. The loud cheers, the adrenaline rush, and the anticipation that could be felt screens away have been the junior Olympic qualifiers to embrace and remember. While the emotional connection with the roster has been one of standout Haleigh Bryant. “The culture here is absolutely amazing,” she remarks.

“Right when I set foot on campus I just felt the family aspect of everything. They support you, your highs, your lows, they are with you every step of the way,” Bryant noted. The 2021 NCAA Champion on vault made it to 16 perfect 10s this season and the Tigers have stood ready to cherish each. While Bryant saw everyone in on her feats, Chase Brock assured the Tigers are valued for who they are, no matter the role. “The best part” she calls it.

“Everything I ever imagined and more,” all-arounder Elena Arenas who has a 9.9 or above career-highs adds. As for Olivia Dunne, the young sensation describes it as “insanely fun.” Just days back she had also said, “The way this team gets along with one another is not like anything else.” Having embraced moments of love, thrills, and celebrations, the Tigers look to tick off an unfinished business.

Staunch goal ahead for the Tigers

While the LSU gymnastics has been exceptional, the program has missed out on a title each time. Last season the Tigers finished fourth nearly losing out on the championships. The roster will hence look to move a step ahead and more for the season. “There is still an unfinished business,” Olivia Dunne stated after their quad meet.

Going 11-3, 5-2 SEC, LSU gymnastics currently stands at no.2 with their program-best NQS of 198.125. They also own the highest score on the floor while Haleigh Bryant continues domination for the 8th straight week. Their next test on the road to the nationals will be on the 15th of March against North Carolina. The Tigers will grace the home ground, honoring seniors while looking for momentum ahead.
