Team USA had to derail their plans for gymnastics when Simone Biles withdrew from the competitions. The legendary gymnast decided not to take part in the events. Due to mental health struggles, Biles withdrew from the events, and in came Chiles. The four-time Olympic gold medalist got replaced by the 20-year-old Jordan Chiles as she took part for the USA in the team gymnastics event. The team won the silver medal.

She wants to compete at the highest level as Chiles spoke about taking part in major future competitions; including, the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Jordan Chiles aiming for the 2022 World Championships

Chiles’ display on the uneven bars stood out. The young gymnast showcased her routines in recent competitions. Recently, she performed the Yurchenko double full vault and also performed a full-twisting double layout on the floor exercise. The first conquest for her to take care of is the 2022 World Gymnastics Championships. She spoke about her preparations.

“I am going to try for worlds this year. That is something that I put my eye on and I will. I keep telling everybody, I’m not done. I feel like I haven’t accomplished something. Yes, I did go to the Olympics, but for me, I feel like I’m not done with the elite world quite yet,” said Chiles.

Performing at the highest level in Tokyo, helped Team USA to win the silver medal. Moving to Houston in 2019, Chiles’ training partner was Biles. Although she is looking to compete at the 2022 Worlds, the 2024 Paris Olympics’ ambitions are being done day by day.

The talented gymnast talked about adopting a single-day approach and not getting ahead of herself when deciding to go to Paris. Jordan mentioned her plans for the 2024 Olympics.

“I’m going to just take it day by day, month by month, making sure I’m mentally there because I know physically I can be there. During qualifications, obviously… I didn’t have the best meet of my life and the reason why Paris came up is because I barely hit my peak,” said Chiles.

Despite being unsure, she is still taking up the challenge of competing at the highest level. The 2024 Paris Olympics is still on her to-do list as she wants to challenge herself for the upcoming Olympic Games.
