On most nights, Simone Biles gives nearly perfect routines all the time. She is the GOAT of gymnastics according to many, as she dominates the events left, right, and center. However, during the 2019 US Gymnastics Championships, Biles had an uneven bars routine that she wanted to erase from her memory. Just after she finished the routine, she is seeing cussing in the video.

Fast forward to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she withdrew from the gymnastics competitions due to mental health struggles. The real takeaway from this would be that Biles is a fearless young competitor, who speaks her mind out. That’s a quality that should be appreciated.

Simone Biles vents out her frustration

The sensational Biles came into her uneven bars routine and looked shaky from the start. She looked a little nervy in her routines and had a hard time on the bars. Moreover, her landing was not concrete as she struggled hard to maintain balance. Thus, after her routine, Biles exclaimed how she was not happy with her bar routines and exclaimed it to be a “piece of sh**.” 

After that, she spoke of how lucky she was to express her emotions and had no problems keeping them in. She also expressed how it was not right for her to cuss but did it in the heat of the moment. Biles fetched a bronze medal in that competition. She pointed out what went through her mind.

“Should I have probably cussed? No, I probably shouldn’t have done that, but it was real. It’s what I felt in that moment. If you just show no emotion, you’re kind of at a plateau. I feel like, before, I was a little bit scared to show emotion, but now it is what it is, whatever happens, happens; and it’s OK to be mad if you think you did a bad routine,” said Biles.

An eventful US championships

Despite that setback, the overall performance she showcased was marvelous. She won the all-around, vault, balance beam & floor exercises, adding gold medals to her illustrious career. Notably, she also landed the first-ever triple twisting double somersault on floor exercise and was the first gymnast to complete a double-twisting double somersault dismount off of the balance beam. That’s impressive.

No matter what happened during that uneven bars routine, Biles had a successful US Gymnastics Championships. Striving for perfection is something she loves to do, but we had a glimpse of what is to come in the future with that uneven bars routine.
