Jackie Chan made good friends with his parent’s boss’ daughter, and the two jokingly called each other “boyfriend” and “girlfriend.” Moreover, the martial arts legend, a beginner then, took the onus of becoming the guardian of Sophie. In his autobiography, Never Grow Up, Chan revealed that one day a neighbor kid teased his ‘girlfriend,‘ and the Shanghai Noon star couldn’t take it. In an act of courage, he beat the kid. However, Chan’s father witnessed that fight and got angry, eventually tossing him into the embassy’s garbage shed, as punishment.

Although Chan was furious with his father’s behavior, his mood worsened due to hunger. After fighting hard with his empty stomach, he decided to doze off. As Chan mentions in his book, “Through that gap at the top of the door, she pushed something through. A wrapped package landed on my lap. Before I could get the paper off, I smelled the delicious aroma of an enormous roast-meat sandwich. I thought, I love Mom!! It was the best gift I?d ever received in my entire life! I whispered a thank-you and she tiptoed away. I devoured my meal, feeling unbelievably happy.”

After an eventful childhood, Chan grew up to struggle as a stuntman first, and then become one of the richest actors in the world gradually. However, no matter how wealthy he has become, the love and affection of his mother in that sandwich remain the most precious gift for the legend.
