He even won the World Series in 2009 and played his final game in the 2015 season for the Yankees. However, the Yankees were not his first-choice team when he left the Texas Rangers after the 2003 season.

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez Was Ready To Cut $40 million From His Salary To Join Boston Red Sox- “We Needed One Signature”
Recently, A-Rod appeared on a podcast and revealed that he was keen on joining the Boston Red Sox, and not the New York Yankees. When podcast host Jason Tartick asked A-Rod about his experience of moving to New York Yankees from Texas Rangers, A-Rod said that he had worked on the Red Sox deal for like two months. But when the deal with Red Sox collapsed, it opened a window for the Yankees to step in. And that’s when he signed for the Yankees.

“I gave names of three or four teams. One of them was Boston. And that’s when the trade to Boston happened. When Don Fehr didn’t sign that, it opened up a window for the Yankees to step in,” A-Rod said.
“And that window was probably two weeks before spring training started.w. Sure. I mean, almost every day, every day. And when that thing fell apart, it was like a collapse of a building like ‘Oh, my God.”‘
