The New York Mets are preparing a bid for the 2022 World Series. And while they are building out their roster for the present, the future cannot be ignored either. The signing of young outfielder Elian Soto might be what the doctor ordered there. And if Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is to be asked, it is a big step in the right direction.

Elian Soto is apparently slated to join the New York Mets. The younger brother of Juan Soto of the Washington Generals, is looking like he will sign with the Mets during the international free agency period slated to start on January 15th. And the Blue Jays hitter seems hyped for it.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Reacts to the prospect

Vlad Guerrero Jr. has reportedly said that Elian “hits harder than Juan Soto when he was 15 years old.”

High praise from an established star in the league. And someone who had a standout 2021 too. The 15 year old younger brother of the hard hitting Juan Soto clearly has big shoes to fill. But he might be here to do the most that he can.

The 22-year-old had a stat line that truly showcased his consistency and power, featuring among the top candidates to win the AL MVP. During the 2021 season, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. scored a massive 123 runs and recorded 111 RBI for the Blue Jays. With 48 homers and an OPS of 1.002, Guerrero Jr. was definitely one to watch for.

And as if this wasn’t enough to earn a sizable number of votes in the AL MVP, the Blue Jays are putting together a fighting roster. With Vlad Guerrero hitting emergent form, others on the roster aren’t to be left too far behind either.

The Jays also have shortstop and fellow All-Star Bo Bichette, left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and third baseman Cavan Biggio. And while all still relatively young, the roster coming together could be this generation’s version of Murderers Row if all of them hit top form.
