“Felt Good to Be Back Out There”- Marcus Stroman After His Perfect Spring Training Debut With Chicago Cubs

With the regular season just a few weeks away, every team is preparing hard for the league matches; and Marcus Stroman and the Chicago Cubs are no exception. Notably, this will be Stroman’s debut season with the Cubs.

Earlier on Friday, the Chicago Cubs began their spring training against the San Francisco Giants. And the new Cubs pitcher, Stroman, was very impressive in the two innings he pitched. Certainly, the Cubs will be hoping Stroman can carry on this good form in the league as well.

Not to mention, Marcus himself is pretty confident going into the season. He even said he feels good to get back out on the ballpark.

This season, with the kind of squad the Cubs have, they will be a difficult team to beat in the league. After adding Stroman and the Japanese wonder, Seiya Suzuki, to their side, they are a serious contender for the league title as well as the World Series.

And probably no one is more excited than Stroman to play the league games this season. During the spring training match between the Cubs and Giants, Stroman made his debut for the Cubs. While pitching, Stroman retired all batters he faced; three of them by strikeouts.

Talking with the media after the spring training game, Stroman said he felt very new, being at the Cubs. The Cubs pitcher also confirmed that he has done a lot of bullpens during the lockout. He expressed his desire to play the games and is ready to get his feet wet and feel healthy.

“Definitely felt almost new just to be out there. Throw strikes, we felt great adrenaline,” said Marcus Stroman. “Just felt good to get back out there… I have done a ton of bullpens throughout the off-season. But competition is always a little different… The first time it’s kind of dialing back more than it is ramping it up. Especially with this quick build-up so just to get out there, get my feet wet, and feel healthy.”

Well, one cannot predict a season’s performance by a spring training game. Stroman’s real test will be in during the league games. But given his caliber and the skills he holds, how far do you think Stroman will take the Cubs in the 2022 season?
