With most of the major off-season moves culminating and teams starting to have their rosters in place for Opening Day, perhaps it may be ideal to take a look back. Most teams like the Dodgers have been contenders for several years; and so have the players on such teams. And yet, the players have all been different in the clubhouse. Except perhaps, Justin Turner at Dodger Stadium. Now the most tenured position player for the team, he takes a look back at the roster’s development.
Journalist Doug McCain, recently went into the Dodgers’ clubhouse to hear from the Dodgers’ most experienced hand in the ballpark; and he revealed what we have always known. That the Dodgers have been contenders for a long time. 8 years in the clubhouse will mean that you see a lot of faces come and go, but for Justin Turner, the Dodgers have always been just that. The Dodgers. The 2-time All-Star harkened back to when he first came on the team and where it stands today.

Asked how it was to have seen the clubhouse change over the years, Turner seemed pretty reminiscent. Said Turner, “Yeah, it’s pretty wild.”

Harkening back to when Turner had only just transferred into the LA Dodgers almost 9 years ago he remembers seeing established players across the clubhouse. He remembers being intimidated at first. More specifically he spoke about how he saw, “superstar after superstar in this room,” referring to their clubhouse.
Stepping into the present though, Turner seemed to be cognizant of the changes but only to an extent. Said Turner, “You know now, 9 years later I feel like young guys coming in here probably have a similar feeling walking around.”

Speaking of the laundry list of all-star level players that the Dodgers boast on their roster even today, Turner just dropped some names. He added, “You know you see, Clayton Kershaw, you see David Price, you see Buehler, you got Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Cody Bellinger, Trea Turner.” And perhaps turning to honesty, he punctuated his statement with, “So honestly, I don’t think much has changed.”
Giving a bit more context into how he believes it to have gone, “The names have changed but I feel like the caliber of players has held.”
