Juan Soto Breaks Silence On Contract Extension With Washington Nationals – “500 What?”

,Juan Soto is primed to be the next big thing in Major League Baseball. With the Washington Nationals star rocking up some solid numbers across his opening years in the Major Leagues, many are expecting him to be the next record setting contract in MLB history. Soto however, appears to be focused on maximizing his value as a player to the best of his abilities. Even in media interactions, it appears Soto remains highly aware.
Speaking to a group of reporters amidst the MLB Lockout, Soto answered questions regarding his extension. Specifically regarding his stay with the Nationals in the years to come. Soto, however, appeared to be unaffected by talks surrounding his free agency. Speaking to a group of reporters he played off his extension and the supposed breakout year he had quite nonchalantly.

Juan Soto plays off talks about contract
Soto, a free agent in 2025, will be entering his age-26 season during free agency and will be primed for success if he tests free agency. Many have also postulated that if he keeps up his performances, Soto could well be baseball’s first $500 Million contract player. Soto, however, was quick to dismiss these claims and quickly re-ordered his priorities.
Speaking to reporters, Soto made it clear that his number 1 priority at the moment was getting out of the MLB lockout. The Nationals’ star seemed to deal with all the queries with a smile as he addressed the reporters.

Deflecting with the guile of a seasoned politician, Soto smiled as he spoke in his native tongue to reporters. Reportedly, Soto said, ““500 what? Where? How? When? .500 batting average?” before chuckling to himself for a bit.

Soto, however, seemed to bring the discussion back on point quickly showcasing that he was more concerned with the developing situation with the MLB Lockout. Said Soto, “Right now we are focused on the lockout.”
However, it’s not as if his extension is a matter he has completely written off either. Having teamed up with super-agent Scott Boras, he can rest assured that a lucrative deal is to be likely. And if such a deal is to come about then Soto is not putting off the possibility. “Regarding my contract extension, Scott Boras is the one who will talk about it.”, he added.
