The New York Yankees are building towards a season in 2022. Their wild card loss will be stinging them for the off-season, but they will be looking to purge  that record as soon as possible. However, even despite their intentions to win now, the Yankees have some phenomenal depth. And the 2019 draft class may yet turn out to be a talent churner.

The Yankees may have temporary gaps in their roster but the organization has lined up some great prospects. At shortstop, even though not many players on the senior squad are active at the moment, their minor leaguers are waiting to debut. With Anthony Volpe and Oswaldo Perez both knocking at the door, it can’t be long before one of them makes it to the senior squad.

Calling out the two pitchers by name, Volpe was quick to insist that the depth in the roster is present nevertheless. “That’s just two guys. But there’s a bunch,” said Volpe.

Volpe racked up 27 homers, 33 stolen bases, and 86 RBIs. All this while amassing 35 doubles, and a total 113 runs scored. He was the only player in the Minors with at least 25 homers, 30 doubles and 30 stolen bases for the season.

The Yankees aren’t too well known for promoting from within the system but Volpe might be one to break that slump. Yankees manager, Brian Cashman spoke during a media engagement in December, saying, “He certainly caught the attention of the entire industry.”
