In the past five years of Major League Baseball, the Houston Astros have proved themselves as one of the most successful teams. Just like the 2021 season, statistics predict that the Astros will win the American League West once again this season.

There is no denying that the Houston Astros have one of the best squads in MLB. But despite that, they have lost at the most crucial stages in recent years, including their last season World Series defeat against the Atlanta Braves. Given the powerful squad they have, once again, the Astros are a top contender for the World Series in the upcoming season.

Last season they won 95 games to claim the AL West. What is more surprising is that even if the Astros end up losing their star player Carlos Correa, they have the best chance to win the World Series along with the AL. Notably, Correa is in his free agency and is unlikely to return to the Astros.

The prediction also states that their closest competitor, Los Angeles Angels, will win only 81 games this season. Even after having MLB star Shohei Ohtani in their squad, the Angels will come second to the Astros, as per the model.

While it is still a prediction, not an actual result. But considering the squad depth of the Astros, they are most likely to dominate the 2022 season too.
