Bruce Lee contributed immensely to the action drama industry and never gave up on his quest to become an iconic Hollywood superstar. While Lee had already earned a hoard full of success in Hollywood with his Kung Fu flair, he decided to expand his acting roots in the Chinese film industry as well. With the 1971 action-drama movie, ‘The Big Boss’, the Little Phoenix debuted in the Hong Kong film industry. Interestingly, the director who gave Lee his first break was none other than Lo Wei.

Years after co-starring in The Green Hornet, the Little Phoenix returned to Hong Kong, where he signed two projects with Golden Harvest productions. Nevertheless, under the direction of Lo Wei, Lee starred in movies like The Big Boss (1971) and the Fist of Fury (1972). However, a year later, Lee engaged in a heated confrontation with Wei and “pulled a knife” to threaten the director.
