The legendary Ronnie Coleman is one of the most famous bodybuilders in the world. Known as “The King,” Coleman has achieved significant recognition and achievements in the sport.
Coleman, one of the greatest bodybuilders in history, has received many awards for his brilliant career. In 2021, Coleman received another award for his magnificent bodybuilding career. But, the retired bodybuilder felt amused at receiving this honor.

Born in Monroe, Louisiana, Coleman graduated from Grambling State University. Hence, two years back, “The King” was included in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame for his brilliant bodybuilding career.

However, Coleman was stunned to be receiving such a prestigious honor. In an interview with LSWA, Coleman said, “I was shocked.” This was because Coleman felt bodybuilding was not a popular sport in the country and for him to be elected to the Hall of Fame was a surprise.
He compared bodybuilding to NFL and NBA, as he felt the other two sports were way more dominant in the States. He said, “The biggest crowds we get are five or six thousand. NFL, NBA, they get hundreds of thousands.” Amongst the basketball and football stars, Coleman never expected himself to get selected for the Hall of Fame honor.

Nevertheless, Coleman felt pleased to see bodybuilding receive such high recognition in the US. The eight-time Mr. Olympia is now a notable athlete in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
Other tremendous achievements of Coleman
In 1990, Coleman won his first sporting award by winning the Mr. Texas bodybuilding competition. Soon, Coleman participated in the prestigious Mr. Olympia event, where he did not get any success in his initial years. However, in 1998, after years of hard work, Coleman won his first-ever Mr. Olympia title. Till 2005, Coleman kept defending his title, making his Mr. Olympia for eight consecutive years.
