Wayne Gretzky tried his hands in the entertainment industry
In 2014, Gretzky appeared in a talk show, Conan on TBS. The host Conan O’Brien asked Gretzky about his experience of hosting the show ‘Saturday Night Live’ back in the 80s. On this, Wayne said, “I am glad that I did it, they were terrific”.

As per Gretzky’s revelations, he not only hosted the show but also acted in it. Gretzky even sang and performed in the sketch, which according to Conan was pretty entertaining. Conan also showed glimpses of the sketch from 80s SNL in his show.

Gretzky also shared his struggles with learning the song for SNL. Wayne added, “I was trying to learn the song, it was like Waikiki hockey and I am completely tone-deaf”. Further, Wayne revealed he practiced the lyrics by singing the song to her three-month-old daughter. “I was singing to my daughter at that time was three months old and I probably ruined her childhood,” Gretzky joked.

In the 80s, Wayne was standing on the pedestal of victory. He not only took several NHL records home but he also became an international phenomenon. The widespread recognition got him many invites as a guest on many talk shows. One of them is the American television show ‘Saturday Night Live’. After his first appearance as a host, he was seen in various other segments of the show as well. Those segments are point-blank, monologue and skit.
