That’s right. Stamkos became only the fifth hockey player to score the 500th goal on an empty net. The other four are Wayne Gretzky, Mike Bossy, Jari Kurri, and Keith Tkachuk. Overall, he became the 47th player to score 500 goals in the history of the National Hockey League. It was an extraordinary moment for the man, as well as the team.

In fact, he gave an emotional speech in the locker room celebrating Stamkos’ astounding achievement. He said, “You look back, the cups and all those things, but this is an accomplishment.
