“See You in Boston”: Hockey Legend Wayne Gretzky Shares a 6-Year-Old Exciting Memory

Wayne Gretzky is synonymous with the game of ice hockey. For his beloved game, Gretzky didn’t only make it to the headlines during his prime, but he continues to draw attention to his puck-handling prowess even after 2 decades of retirement. Likewise, in 2017, Gretzky pulled on his NHL jersey one more time to play in the Winter Classic Alumni game and made many heads turn his way.

The NHL Winter Classic games are held yearly on New Year’s day. Moreover, one of the 14 NHL Winter Classic teams hosts the annual event each year. 6 years ago, St. Louis Blues hosted the event at Busch stadium. Interestingly, the Great One also played in the tournament and stole the limelight with his incredible performance. And now, recalling his commendable winning spree, Gretzky reminisced about the Winter Classic game day from 2017.

In 2017, Wayne Gretzky’s son Ty Gretzky shared a picture on his Instagram handle. The post shows a still of the Great One along with his three sons viz. Tristan Gretzky, Ty Gretzky, and Trevor Gretzky. The picture was taken in St. Louis’s Busch stadium after the tournament. Captioning the post, Ty penned, “Fam”.

Interestingly, the Great One played for the St. Louis team and won that match against Chicago Blackhawks by a point,  8-7. And now, after 6 years of his momentous triumph, the 61-year-old re shared Ty’s post on his Instagram story. Gretzky captioned the story and wrote: “6 years ago today” and tagged the official Instagram handle of St. Louis Blues.

The Great One started off his career with Edmonton Oilers and triumphantly shot the pucks for the Oilers from 1979-1988. Then, in 1988, Gretzky joined the Los Angeles Kings and requested a trade in 1996 after bagging some glorious victories for the Kings. And, finally, the White tornado joined the St. Louis Blues in 1996 and scored 37 points in 31 games in regular seasons and in playoffs. However, Gretzky played for St. Louis only for one year.

And after two decades of his appearance with St. Louis, Gretzky again made it to the limelight by winning the Winter Classic Alumni game in 2017.
