The Miami Grand Prix returned to the International Autodrome this year with much fanfare. Before the race commenced, an unfortunate incident involving a tennis giant and a former F1 legend broke out during the pre-race event. Sir Jackie Stewart had jumped into a restricted area to get hold of Roger Federer who ended up being manhandled by security. However, the F1 royalty’s reason for the act was far more innocuous and friendly than anyone would’ve imagined.

Sir Jackie’s benevolent attempt to get the attention of Roger Federer didn’t land as he imagined. Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn, who was also present at the sporting event, was also seemingly confused as to what went down.

Lindsey Vonn, like everyone else, was confused

Martin Brundle, a former British racing driver, was doing his pre-race grid walk. While having a chat with Sir Jackie, he wanted to catch the attention of the 20-time Grand Slam winner. Failing to do so, Sir Jackie stepped in. This is when a security guard, having misidentified Sir Jackie, jumped on him and it created chaos. Everyone was confused. Meanwhile, Winter Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn took to her Instagram and shared an image of her from the Miami Grand Prix. She looked dapper in all white.

In the comments, a user wrote, “I saw you in the background while Security was manhandling Sir Jackie Stewart when he was trying to get the attention of Roger Federer. Sir Jackie was the only worthy celebrity there and no one stepped in to help him. It was disgraceful”.

Apparently, the controversial act made headlines and became a talking point besides race. Vonn commented below, “No one knew what was going on. I love Sir Jackie as does everyone”.

Lindsey Vonn’s long history with F1

The world knows Lindsey Vonn as this high-speed alpine skier, which has given her much name and fame. However, she was once near to building her career in another high-speed sport, Formula 1. In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Vonn once revealed that she was offered an F1 drive with Red Bull. She also drove a Renault 3.5 on an F1 track in Spielberg, Austria. Unfortunately, despite the offer being tempting, Vonn couldn’t commit to it since it required 3 years of not doing anything else, including not getting pregnant.
