Lindsey Vonn has achieved a lot in her career. She is one of the best skiers in the world. After retiring in 2019, Vonn wrote a memoir based on her life called, “Rise- My Story.” She opened up about how she became one of the best and about several ups and downs in her career.

However, Vonn also mentioned an incident that made her think that she must choose her words wisely before she speaks. Vonn wrote about an indirect feud between her and Donald Trump before the Pyeongchang Olympics.

Lindsey Vonn had a tough time against Trump’s supporters

It was before the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, and Lindsey Vonn was interviewing for CNN. Lindsey Vonn went for the interview for her performance and sports-associated questions. However, she was taken by surprise, when the reporter asked“How does it feel to be representing President Trump in the opening ceremony?”

Vonn wasn’t expecting these kinds of questions. In the search for an instant reply, Vonn replied, “Well, I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the President”. Furthermore, as a follow-up question, the reporter asked her, “Will you go to the White House following PyeongChang?” Vonn replied, “Absolutely not. No.”

This reply wasn’t appreciated by Donald Trump’s supporters, and afterwards, they gave her some hard time. Vonn wrote in her memoir, “S**t. Hit. The. Fan. It was insane. I got vicious comments, hate mail, death threats… You name it, it probably happened. They threatened to get my sponsors to dump me, and just when I thought it had finally stopped, the FBI called. My name was on the mailing list to receive some sort of pipe bomb.”

The answers Vonn gave to the reporter were instant reflex replies and it did not result in good for her. In that interview, Vonn also said, “I take the Olympics very seriously—what they mean and what they represent. What walking under our flag in the opening ceremony means.”

However, Lindsey Vonn revealed that she doesn’t regret what she said, however, she feels she could have phrased her statement better.
