In her latest post on X, Shiffrin, currently in Finland, took to the platform and congratulated her dear friend Iga Swiatek. She shared two pictures of the Polish tennis star holding up her trophy and wrote, “Woke up in Finland to the best news!!!  Congrats,  @iga_swiatek … world No. 1”. At the WTA Finals in Cancún, 22-year-old Iga became the youngest champion of the tournament since 2011. She defeated America’s Jessica Pegula with a 6-1, 6-0 win.

This feat saw her overtake Aryna Sabalenka and claim her title once more as the world number one. In September, after 75 straight weeks as the world No. 1, her streak was broken at the US Open when she was defeated by Jelena Ostapenko in a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 defeat. At the time, Shiffrin had made an uncanny prediction about this recent victory by Swiatek at the WTA Finals.
