The highest-ranked American male breaker in the world, he cannot fully digest his magnificent success. Nevertheless, the 2023 WDSF World Breaking Championship gold medalist remembers his bumpy journey. He is famous by the name B-Boy Victor and will be seen competing in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. But amidst his long sought-after dream, he recalls how his father introduced him to breaking at age 6.

Having dancing dreams of his own, his father provided the athlete with a studio and ensured that his son, Victor, would stay focused.

Though some in his family discouraged him from dreaming big, his father had made his son do what he had loved to do. B-Boy stated, “Some of my family members didn’t support me traveling internationally and breaking because it wasn’t like a real career.” From a rough journey to being an Olympic qualifier now, Victor Montalvo mentions his childhood obsession with breakdancing.

Making his father and the entire family proud, Victor Montalvo is officially qualified for the 2024 Paris Games. Hoping to inspire budding breakdancing talents across the globe, he said, “If you have a lot of passion for whatever you’re doing, just keep on doing it 100 percent. Do it because you love it. It is not about the money.“
