“I Was Better”: Top Mr. Olympia Contender Hunter Labrada Justified His Fourth-Place Finish at Last Year’s Bodybuilding Event

Hunter Labrada, the son of legendary bodybuilder and former Mr. Universe Lee Labrada, is considered one of the emerging names in bodybuilding. The 30-year-old is consistently working hard to live up to the hype of being a legendary bodybuilder’s son. Moreover, Hunter is on the right track and he came fourth on his second attempt at Mr.Olympia in 2021. The young bodybuilder is hoping to become a lot better comparing his physique from last year.

Although Hunter wanted to create a career in football initially, he developed an affinity towards bodybuilding in his late teens. As Labrada wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps, he began bodybuilding and soon participated in events. In 2020, he debuted in Mr. Olympia, where he gained the eighth position. The next year, the bodybuilding surprised the community finishing in the fourth position. Can Hunter become Mr.Olympia this year?

Hunter Labrada compares his physique from last year

Hunter Labrada has all the features that could make him a possible Mr.Olympia 2022. Last year, the bodybuilding was amazed to see a second-time freshie win fourth place against competitive bodybuilders like Hadi Choopan, Brandon Curry, and winner Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay. More so, Hunter also outperformed his competitors like, Nick Walker.

2022 counts as a potential shot for Hunter Labrada to win Mr. Olympia. The bodybuilding legend’s son was recognized for combining the modern and traditional styles of bodybuilding last year. With his father’s guidance, Labrada says that he has improved a lot.

In an interview with Muscle and Fitness, he compared his current physique to last year. He stated, “About three weeks out, I was better than I was onstage last year. And that’s hammered flat and still pushing for conditioning. People are going to see a whole new version of me this year. For sure. A lot bigger, a lot more conditioned.”

Labrada stated that he was very pragmatic about his training process. Keeping his perspective practically, he stated that he could be better than the best version of himself. Instead, the young bodybuilder believed that he was “absolutely without a shadow of a doubt going to be at my best on that day”.

Like most bodybuilders, Hunter Labrada has chosen to not disclose his physique before climbing up the Mr.Olympia stage. Although he likes to regularly interact with his social media audience, Labrada has not given many updates about his weight or training recently.
