With broad shoulders and a thin waist, Frank Zane proved that one can win the Mr.Olympia title without making the body go through immense pain. He was absolutely against heavy-weight training. Instead, he followed lightweight training throughout his bodybuilding journey. However, he also gave a message to young bodybuilders that they should follow a customized regime without listening to experts who did know much about the sport.

Frank Zane’s idea of experimenting with your body

Famously known as ‘The Chemist’, Zane would consume a well-thought proportion of supplements to help his body achieved the desired physique. Moreover, the retired bodybuilder always believed that workout plans do have similar effects on the body, but the effectiveness of each exercise varies from person to person. Therefore, according to Zane, one must deeply know about diet, workouts, and their body type before starting to build their physique. More so, one should not listen to people who think they are experts.

In one of his Instagram posts from 2022, Zane stated, “One of the problems is that people who aren’t experts act like experts and develop a false following. It’s counterfeit material which is bound to spring up from every legitimate source of information. You have to know what’s good and what’s not. Experiment with it and see how it’s works. Test things out.”

Beginners and intermediate bodybuilders should always focus on understanding the things that would work for their bodies. Not just Zane, many legendary bodybuilders believe that there exist several types of workout regimes.

Frank Zane once shared a ‘one-sided workout’ idea

The 80-year-old icon keeps on planning workouts for bodybuilders. In 2021, Zane shared the idea behind his ‘one-sided workout’ idea.

Zane stated that in the workout, the bodybuilder gets to exercise muscles of only one side of his body at a time. This helps in regulating more blood flow. The muscles on the other side of the body get their workout later that day or the next day.
