The third most decorated Strongman, after Lithuania’s Žydrūnas Savickas and Poland’s Mariusz Pudzianowski, attempted to breach the 1,000 kilograms (2,204 lbs) across all three lifts. Unfortunately, he fell short of his goal by 30 kilograms (66 lbs).

Fans cheer up Bjornsson for his performance

Failing to achieve his target, Hafthor uploaded a YouTube video of the event and wrote, “I FAILED!” Subsequently, fans took to their social media to cheer him up.

One user praised Bjornsson’s raw potential, saying, “I definitely wouldn’t call doing a 970kg total on a short prep after 2years out of strength training, while sick, a failure. I dont know if anyone else in the world could replicate that and it truly shows the raw potential again”

Others tried to lift his spirits, stating, “Thor you did not fail, coming back to powerlifting after two years boxing, you came back roaring and achieved so much you’re on an upward curve like a rocket, respect to you and you’re family.”
