“They Just Kind of Really Pushed Me”: Bruce Springsteen’s Daughter Credited Family for Her Equestrian Career in 2019

Olympian equestrian, Jessica Springsteen has dedicated her life to the sport. Since age five, she surrounded herself with ponies and horses. Her efforts finally came to fruition after she made her Olympic debut in 2021 as a show jumper and is also regarded among the top equestrians in the U.S. currently. However, the passive dreamers that supported her throughout were her parents and legendary musicians, Patti Scialfa and Bruce Springsteen. 

A publication by Robb Report once elucidated the grand cheers Springsteen received from her parents. They hardly doubted her pursuit and instead encouraged her to be the champion she is today. Here’s how the story unfolded.

According to the 2019 Robb Report article, the 31-year-old appreciated how Bruce and Patti inspired her to chase after her passion. Speaking on the matter, she said, “always really supported me. They understand the lifestyle and how it can be taxing.” Her heart filled with gratification upon the realization. Moreover, she hinted at their illustrious artistic careers that helped them to align with her own non-traditional ambitions. “They obviously found their passion when they were younger with music, and they recognize how hard it is. Some people go through their entire life without finding something that they really love, so they just kind of really pushed me,” Springsteen admitted.

The source subtly issued a comparison of her lifestyle to that of her parents. It claimed that the athlete’s professional life shall remain indifferent from her theirs’, in the sense, she will be continuously traveling, her life packed in a suitcase up until her senescent phase.

However, confessing her good fortune the 5’6” showjumper stated, “As you get older, you realize. You assume everyone has that support, and you see how lucky you are to really have [it].” She saluted her Hall of Famer mom and legendary father for teaching her perseverance and said, “they’ve really instilled that in me.” Apart from her parents, Springsteen dedicated her love to another dear one, ahead of her Olympic debut.

Days ahead of the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Springsteen was overjoyed with finally making her way to the highest pedestal of equestrian sports. Unfortunately, a pandemic-struck world restricted her parents from attending the event. Nevertheless, she acclaimed them for spurring her confidence, saying, “They’ve been so supportive since I was little on ponies, they’ve been like my biggest supporters.”

Furthermore, the athlete always keeps her lucky charm, a necklace gifted by her grandmother when she was 18, treasured even in major events. Her efforts simply conveyed her affection towards her family, while also being aware of her personal goals.
