In gymnastics, every moment counts. The first day of the U.S. Women’s World Team Selection Camp in Katy, Texas, seemed to be a testament to that. The mats of Texas saw multiple disappointments even from the best of the gymnasts. Simone Biles, the reigning queen of gymnastics, stumbled during her uneven bar routine. But she pulled herself up to end the day at the top of the table. However, her best friend could not be as triumphant as her.

Simone Biles’ best buddy Jordan Chiles was impeccable in her uneven bar routine. With a series of complex moves, Chiles left the judges in awe. It seemed that Chiles had brushed up on her skills after a recent fall at the Xfinity US Gymnastics National Championships. This time disappointment came for her in another routine, which proved to be her Achilles’ heel.

On September 19, on the first day of the section camp, Jordan Chiles faced an out-of-bounds stumble during her floor exercise routine. This caused her to fall down, which marred her otherwise impressive performance. According to a tweet, “Jordan Chiles with an out of bounds and a fall on floor. Came in crunched on that third pass….”

This landed Chiles a score on the floor exercise of 12.950, which brought her to a meager 11th place. While Simone Biles landed at 14.300. In the end, the selection camp was a rollercoaster of emotions. The gymnasts gave their all, demonstrating their relentless dedication to the sport.
