A major health scare postponed Jordan Chiles’ Thanksgiving celebrations. The 2020 Olympic gymnast was enjoying the holiday season in New York with a box of gourmet chocolates from Jacques Torres when she heard the devastating news. No sooner had she received the update she ended her planned festivities and rushed to the hospital.

Jordan Chiles’ grandfather fell seriously ill and had to be admitted to the hospital. As his doting granddaughter, the gymnastics ace paused her own plans to be by his side. Jordan Chiles informed her fans of the family crisis and also sought their well wishes. Here’s what she had to say!

Even during the tough time in her personal life, the gymnast did not forget about her fans. This is one of the many salient aspects of her personality that makes her beloved of all. From the hospital, Jordan Chiles addressed her fans in an Instagram post, writing, “Although I spent my thanksgiving at the Macy’s thanksgiving parade and now in the hospital for my grandpa… I just wanted to say I’m thankful for all my friends and family members. I hope everyone had an amazing thanksgiving and if everyone can keep my family in prayers as well I would appreciate that. Love Jo”. In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, Jordan Chiles prefaced her own difficult circumstances with a show of gratitude to her supporters.

Her fans found it extremely sweet, considering the deep ties of love she shares with her family. Jordan Chiles is especially close to her grandparents, who do not allow distance to be an impediment to their show of support for her. Interestingly, the gymnastics queen is also aware of the unwavering support system behind her and marches ahead.

Every time Chiles performs, her family makes sure to watch her on live TV and cheer for her. Both their support and cheers are unaffected by the results of the competition. In this regard, after Jordan Chiles lost the gold in the 2020 Olympics, she said, “My family, they’re all like, ‘Oh my goodness. You’re a silver medalist!’ and I’m like, ‘Yes I am!”. For them to see Jordan Chiles compete for the United States at the Olympics was a big deal. The silver medal was just the icing on the cake.
