Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles are a dynamic duo in the world of gymnastics. At the Tokyo Olympics, Jordan filled pretty huge shoes when Simone Biles exited due to the “Twisties.” Jordan faced doubts about living up to her icon and securing the Team Olympic silver medal. In a moment of support, Simone reassured her, saying, “You did such an amazing job. You guys are silver medalists. You got a silver medal with three people, that’s crazy.”

Since the Rio Olympics, the gymnastics icons have come a long way as friends and teammates who train together at the WCC in Houston, Texas. And now, showing immense growth, Jordan Chiles has teased the revival of the very move that took out her bestie Simone Biles at the Tokyo Olympics, causing her the “Twisties”.

Jordan Chiles teases epic gymnastics move ahead of 2024 season

In a post on X by Jordan Chiles, the Olympian reposted an update from a handle called “@Pamchenkova” that read, “Jordan Chiles on Amanar supremacy.” The video was captured at the 2018 US Gymnastics Championships and showed Jordan Chiles, dressed in a sparkly lavender leotard, surging down towards the vault, doing a cartwheel onto it, and then pulling off a cool straight flip with two and a half spins before sticking the landing. Jordan reposted this impressive video on January 12, 2024, almost six years after its recording, and added an eye emoji, playfully teasing fans about the potential revival of this skill in this Olympic year.

This epic move is known as the Amanar vault and is highly difficult, which even caused the “Twisties” and led to Simone Biles withdrawing from the Tokyo Olympics. But did you know Simone, too, has teased the move ahead of Paris 2024?

At the Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles performed the Amanar Vault. However, losing her spatial awareness while she was mid-air during her twist, she was able to only perform one and a half twists rather than the laid-out flip with two and a half twists, giving her an unideal landing. After this, she withdrew from the games, and the rest is history. In 2023, before the world championships, when asked about whether she would attempt the move, she shared, “I think (coach Laurent Landi) is a little bit more stressed about (the Amanar) because of what happened. I think after this we could play around with it just because, but I’m not sure.”
