The caption read, “Late night Gabby Shenanigans.” Even in her casual bedtime look, the gymnast radiated energy and zeal, owing to her gruesome training for the Paris Olympics 2024. After competing at the 2016 Rio Games, Gabby Douglas left the sport, finding herself surrounded by backlashes and controversies. She stepped out of the public eye completely. However, after a long hiatus, Douglas made an astonishing appearance on Instagram back in July this year. Posting photos on the balance team, she shared a heartfelt caption. The hiatus was dedicated to “journaling, reflecting, soul searching” to come to terms with her fear and darkness.

Can Gabby make it to the grand stage again?
It marked the arrival of Douglas into the field of artistic gymnastics once again. Since then, Douglas has been training intensively. Recently she participated in her first national team camp after seven years. She returned to workouts about a year ago, and everyone is excited to watch Douglas compete again. She is training with all her might to make it to the five-woman 2024 Olympic team. The decision for the same will come in June.

With her latest resurgence, Douglas noted “I never wanted to have a hatred for the sport that I love.” Gabby Douglas has lived a historic gymnastics career, becoming the first Black woman to win gold competing in the individual all-around event during the 2012 London Olympics.
