“I’m still processing this and know there’s a tough journey ahead,” shared the gymnastics star from Great Britain’s Tokyo Olympics bronze-winning squad; back in October 2023. With a grievous ACL tear, the 2022 World Champion on floor exercise was forced to exit the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Having undergone major surgery, she faced physical challenges, even walking. However, as 2024 begins, she is now four weeks into post-op recovery, and in a blazing new update, she made a triumphant return to gymnastics.

In a post on X by a handle named Katherine Keirns, Jessica Gadirova, the English artistic gymnast, gave fans an exhilarating gymnastics update. Dressed in a white shirt and brown shorts, the Olympian was seen in a gym performing what is called an “arabesque scale.” This is a challenging gymnastics pose that involves extending one leg straight behind while leaning forward, creating a graceful and balanced shape.

The caption of the video pointed out her major recovery progress as she penned, “Small step today! Being able to do an arabesque on the left leg! Still got a lot to improve on this but it’s a start!” This exciting update comes after a long journey for the talented Gadivora, who has been in rehab on her recovery journey for four weeks post-surgery.

Jessica Gadirova’s road to recovery

At the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Belgium, Jessica Gadirova withdrew from the competition due to a knee injury. She later revealed that she had a “full tear” of her ACL that occurred during a warm-up for the individual all-around final. Since then, she has not only undergone major surgery on both legs but has come a long way, as seen on Instagram highlights titled “Rehab,” spanning over four weeks. From the initial challenge of being unable to lift her legs post-surgery, she has now begun rigorous training in the gym, involving weightlifting, leg presses, aqua jogging, and even returning to the gym bike.

Hoping for her participation in the Paris Olympics 2024, fans received a heartfelt note from her two weeks ago. Addressing anyone going through injury recovery, she emphasized, “Recognize and respect the unique timeline of your body’s recovery, and with care, it will gradually get easier.” As the countdown to Paris 2024 continues, only time will reveal her plans, but more than anything, fans fervently hope for her complete recovery in due time.
