World record holder Blake Leeper’s name is synonymous with inspiration. The fastest in his field, he’s a double amputee athlete shifting the boundaries of sports. He holds a record of 8 medals in the Paralympics Track and Field International categories. However, Leeper’s moving gesture in 2020, which recently resurfaced, left many teary-eyed.

In a Twitter video surfacing the internet, the athlete was attempting to influence or rather inspire a young boy with a new prosthetic leg. Guess how that went? Let’s find out.

Blake Leeper’s moving gesture

As per a video on Twitter posted by Vala Afshar, the Paralympian cheered on a little boy who underwent a prosthetic implant. Leeper joyfully jumped and encouraged the young one to move forward “step by step”. Surprisingly, the boy adorably retraced his footsteps.

As the people around watched in awe, the young one was inspired by the American athlete’s expressions. He said, “First step, come on.” Additionally, the caption of the video read, “The fastest double-amputee in the world inspires a young boy with a new prosthetic leg.”

Further, into the video, Leeper was seen engaging with the boy in a brief conversation and introducing him to his new way of life. Later, the gold medalist sat with him and witnessed a brief moment of laughter. In addition to his Paralympian achievements, the athlete even set 3x American records and a standing 4×100-meter relay world record.

Why Blake Leeper is an extraordinary athlete? 

The 33-year-old athlete was specially abled since birth because of a deficiency. He started his athletic career in 2010, where soon after his remarkable performance at a race in Oklahoma, he was observed by significant Paralympic reps.

Fast forward to the present, Leeper has set his own 200-meter American record (21.49) and incorporated a still-standing world record in the 4×100-meter race. He once aspired to compete against Olympic athletes, but the authorities disregarded it.
