“Another Strong Woman”: Lindsey Vonn Excited by Mikaela Shiffrin’s Iconic Appearance

Winner of 82 World Cup victories, Lindsey Vonn has largely impacted the skiing world with her amazing ski show and multiple achievements. In her two-decade career, the skier injured herself several times, yet she possessed the grit to bounce back. Vonn also encourages other female skiers to create an impact in the sports world. Recently, the 38-year-old expressed her excitement for a crucial achievement of Mikaela Shiffrin, the world’s greatest alpine skier. 

On April 27, Lindsey Vonn took to her Instagram stories to congratulate Shiffrin for achieving her name in the 2023 Times’ 100 Most Influential People in the World. She wrote a heartfelt note celebrating the 28-year-old’s spectacular accomplishment.

Skier Mikaela Shiffrin recently posted a picture of her at the Times’ 100 most influential celebration in New York on Instagram. Sharing it in her story, retired skier, Lindsey Vonn congratulated Shiffrin with a heartfelt note.

It read, “So great to see another strong woman in ski racing making an impact! Bravo Miki.” Indeed, the young skier deserves all the praise for her newly-achieved place on the celebratory list, considering her achievements so far.

This year, in February, Shiffrin won her seventh career Alpine world championships gold medal in the giant slalom in Méribel, France. Moreover, in March, Shiffrin created history by surpassing star skiers Lindsey Vonn and Ingemar Stenmark in FIS World Cup wins. The Colorado-born star celebrated her 87th win at the championship, becoming one the greatest skiers of all time. 

Following her terrific win streak, Shiffrin found her name in TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2023 list. She secured a place in the ‘pioneer’ category. Moreover, the skier’s name has been placed among champion players of different sports like Lionel Messi, Brittney Griner, and Iga Swiatek

Analyzing her achievements, Vonn told Time’s Magazine in April, that sky is the limit for Shiffrin. The legendary skier believes that she could easily achieve 100 World Cup wins in her career. 

Lindsey Vonn has often backed female athletes in the sports world in their ups and downs. She supported tennis legend, Serena Williams for her aggressive behavior.

23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams often made headlines for her aggressive behavior on the tennis court. In 2018, the 41-year-old called out an umpire a ‘thief” for frequently warning her at the US Open Final. The episode raised conversations about Williams’s inappropriate behavior.

However, amidst the controversy, Lindsey Vonn took a stand for the female athlete in her book, Rise: My Story. She wrote, “I don’t think she should be penalized for it when her male counterparts aren’t.” The skier told that if male tennis player John McEnroe could be aggressive on the field, then why should Serena Williams get ridiculed for her behavior?

Vonn called out the double standards in sports and stated that Williams was not breaking any rules.
