Shaun White is a legendary American snowboarder. The Californian snowboarder made his Olympics debut in 2006 and got retired from the sport earlier this year. In his career span, he has competed in five Olympics and won three gold medals. However, he just missed the bronze medal in the 2022 Olympics’ half-pipe event.

Moreover, he has 13 Winter X Games titles against his name. He had a marvelous career with several achievements. Other than this, White also has an unending interest in music and once was a part of a music band. However, as an athlete, one possibly has another sport that they like but chose their primary one instead. In the 2020s, B/R AMA, White revealed his second preference sport and explained the reason as well.

Shaun White would have fulfilled his father’s dream

Mostly, everyone has a backup career in their mind. Not because they thought they will fail. But it is just about having another interest other than the primary one. Similarly, the snowboarding legend, Shaun White, revealed the backup sports that he would have loved to play if not snowboarding. Replying to a question, “@SportsCentral: If you could play any other sport what would it be and why?”

White said, “Probably surfing. Cause boards and I get along. I’m named Shaun after Shaun Tomson, professional South African surfer. Basically, loved surfing a little bit but not as much as my dad did. He always wanted me to be a pro surfer. There are moments where I’m standing on top of the mountain and I’m freezing…”

Retired Olympics Legend Shaun White Spotted at UFC Fight Night Dan Hooker vs Claudio Puelles

He continued, “I’m a Southern California kid and I get to the mountain, and I’m freezing. And I look at my phone and Kelly Slater just posted from Fiji…obviously I’ve grown to love the mountains throughout my profession, but yeah, surfing. After that, soccer. I love soccer.”

The multi-talented snowboarding champion

Shaun White is a powerhouse of talent. The snowboarding legend has multiple interests. Moreover, he makes sure that he remains good at his interests. Other than snowboarding, he has a good command of surfing and football.

In addition, if we talk outside of sports, he is an excellent musician. He was even a part of the band called ‘The Bad Things’, which became an enormous hit when it began. Shaun used to play guitar in the band. Unfortunately, the band members parted ways in 2015 when David LeDuke left the group. And as they parted ways, Shaun once again got completely focused on snowboarding.
