Special Olympics Raises $51,000 With ‘Battles of Businesses’ Event

In a heart-warming display of community spirit and friendly competition, the Special Olympics of Greater Dayton recently concluded its highly anticipated ‘Battle of the Businesses’ competition. Battle of the Businesses is an eight-day competition that features 12 coed sporting activities between various Dayton-area businesses and corporate organizations.
The competition includes a varied choice of games, guaranteeing there is something for everyone, from volleyball to miniature golf to track sprints. This week-long event brought together 28 companies and organizations from the Miami Valley area, aiming to raise funds for the Special Olympics and provide opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to participate in year-round athletic contests.

The event not only promotes healthy competition but also fosters camaraderie among the participants. According to WHIO Staff, the companies involved recognize the value of the Special Olympics and wholeheartedly contribute to this cause. With the culmination of the event this year, a total of $51,000 was raised, creating a significant impact and reinforcing the vital role that businesses play in supporting inclusive initiatives. Reynolds and Reynolds stood out as they emerged victorious in the ‘Battle of the Businesses’ competition. Their team, the “magenta team,” demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the events.
At the heart of the Battle of the Businesses lies its primary objective: raising funds for the Special Olympics of Greater Dayton. Over the years, this event has become the number one fundraiser for the organization. On average, the participating companies have donated more than $70,000 annually, providing much-needed resources for individuals with developmental disabilities to compete in athletic contests throughout the year.
