Surfing holds the potential to deliver breathtaking performances. However, the sport poses animal attacks to have always been the biggest threat to a surfer. The deadly jaws of the ocean pirates hold the potential to take anyone’s life. However, there have been many incidents of surfers getting trapped in the jaws of other viscous creatures. 

A similar incident happened in 2016 when an American surfer fell into the trap of a crocodile. The incident was bloody as the predator seemed to injure the man multiple times. Here’s delving more into the matter.

A simple surfing vacation turned into a havoc

The terrifying incident happened on the beaches of Costa Rica when a surfer was trying to cross the river. According to a report by The Inertia, the victim’s name wasn’t publicized. The man was bitten by the crocodile several times. A lifeguard who saved him informed him that the incident became almost fatal instantly. The hero of the day said, “He was bitten several times in the leg as well as in the head.”

The lifeguard, McNulty further informed that the victim hailed from Colorado and that the surfer was traveling with his family. After the horrifying incident, the man was urgently rushed for a medical emergency and was reported to have serious injuries in his right ankle.

In fact, the calf muscle of the surfer was mostly stripped. “It was a vicious attack” Mcnulty recalled. The reports revealed that the victim’s friend came to the rescue. His friend was hailed as a hero after he saved the helpless surfer.

The report further revealed that an urgent meeting was held after the unfortunate accident. Top officials met to figure out the possible solutions to the crocodile problem. The number of crocodiles near the Costa Rica region is growing rapidly. The officials discussed the possibility of relocating and better signage to counter the problem. 

There have been countless cases in which surfers faced life-ending attacks. The number of fatalities has been rising constantly. Just a year ago a South African surfer was almost killed in a multiple shark attack. While the surfer was looking for a big wave to swerve his board, he was attacked by two mighty sharks. The surfer somehow managed to save his life and get out of the ocean.
