“Grateful for It”: World No. 3 Surfing Star Goes Candid About Her Siblings’ Impact on Her Stellar Career

In the sporting realm, family support is a crucial part of an athlete’s journey. Many legendary athletes have spoken about how their families have impacted their careers and how their constant support has been a guiding light in their accomplishments. In surfing as well, athletes risk their lives to entertain while riding the monstrous waves, and surfers also need someone to back them. It is especially required when an individual is just getting started with his or her journey.

One such young surfing prodigy from the United States revealed some tidbits about having her family’s support and how her siblings had a big influence on her surfing career.

Story of a young surfing sensation

Caroline Marks, the 21-year-old surfing sensation, had an interview with WSL recently where she talked extensively about her career and also revealed some behind-the-scenes details of her career. She talked briefly about how she started and how she used to ride horses in her childhood. In the course of this interview, Marks also revealed that it was her brothers who inspired her to start surfing.

On a question about her brothers wanting a lot out of her and the way they helped her surf and not hold back and their expectations of her. To this, Marks replied, Yeah, for sure. I mean, there were times when I was like, You guys are so mean. Now I’m like grateful for it.”

She also added that she wouldn’t be in the position that she is today without the support of her brothers. She also said that she would not even know how to start surfing if it were not for her brothers. This interview came days before her appearance in the Rip Curl WSL Finals in the upcoming month.

Her appearance at the Rip Curl WSL Finals

She will be locking horns with some of the world’s best surfers, like Carissa Moore and Tyler Wright. However, this Florida-based surfer also looks set, and she is currently ranked third in the women’s WSL standings. In the past as well, she has given some promising performances, as she finished second at the WSL Championships in 2019, just behind Carissa Moore. This performance also helped her secure a spot at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo for the United States.

Marks is looking confident and seems ready to rule the waves in the upcoming event. She is just 21 years old and already holds the record of being the youngest woman to participate in the World Surf League. Marks is just getting started and has a long way to go and a whole world in front of her to conquer.
