Surfer’s grand escapade at the Rocky Mountains
The brief snippet posted by Humans Are Metal, a page dedicated to similar thrilling feats, rolled in on the platform last week. It featured a surfer showcasing his athletic skills, but not in the usual environment of surfing. Ditching oceans and seas, this athlete took to the Albertan River surfers’ favorite location, the Kananaskis waves. It was complemented by beautiful waterfalls and clear blue freshwater.
Despite the chilling temperatures and lack of typical surfing destinations, the surfers of the Canadian region have accustomed themselves to the river waves in picturesque settings. This form of surfing is an emerging trend for athletes around the world who don’t live in close proximity to oceans. As per reports, the artificial waves in Kananaskis are built by Surf Anywhere, a surfing group that takes responsibility for such initiatives.

The Rocky Mountain River Surfing was founded by Jeff Brooks, an Albertan surfing pioneer, in 2011. He proposed the idea of sharing surf lessons on the river which are available throughout the year for a fee. Similarly, surfing icon, Laird Hamilton once flaunted his latest extraordinary feat at the ocean.

The 59-year-old legend took to Instagram and shared a dreamy adventure on his high-tech board that is powered by hydrofoil. He also captured the moment, and wrote, “Fun day in the neighborhood. After some bigger days had some relaxed fun playing around on these beauties.”

The big wave surfer seemed to appear flying on the board, as he zoomed past from one locus to another. According to sources, apart from being a skilled athlete, the Waterman is also a capable innovator.
