Jack Robinson is the newest surfing star after his glorious win at the Men’s Billabong Pro Pipeline championship in Hawaii. On February 9, Robinson defeated Leonardo Fioravanti in the final round at the treacherous Banzai Pipeline conditions. Moreover, after winning the opening season of WSL, Robinson came third at the Hurley Sunset Beach on the North Shore of Oahu on February 19. Recently, the Pipeline Master looked back at his neck-to-neck competition against his friend Griffin Colapinto in the semi-finals and explained how it felt at the championship.

On April 13, free surfer Jamie O’Brien interviewed his friend Jack Robinson. During their conversation, Robison analyzed his performance at the Hurley Sunset Beach talking about facing a variety of waves at the competition.

During the interview, O’Brien discussed Robinson’s experienced while surfing against Griffin. The free surfer revealed from his observation that Robinson appeared to have better waves than Colapinto. The Pipeline Master then told, “Yeah, I made a couple of mistakes at the start of the heat. Just, sometimes your first thought you might go this first wave of the set, or actually no, I wanted to go the second wave of the set, but then ended up going at the first and then he got the next one and I was like, “ahh”. But sometimes mother nature too. “

Robinson expressed that the waves were situational. He took skillfully took them as they came. Ultimately, he was happy that both Griifin and he competed together and had a wonderful experience.

Jack Robinson had a great run in the quarterfinals when he faced Nat Young. There he scored 14.76 whereas Young scored 9.33. However, in the semi-finals, Robinson scored 16.33 giving Colapinto a lead of 1.57 score which resulted in the latter’s win with a final score of 17.90.

Leaving aside his Sunset Beach defeat, Robinson’s run at the Men’s Billabong Pro Pipeline was class apart.

Jack Robinson was on fire at the Men’s Billabong Pro Pipeline. After defeating surfers John John Florence and Gabriel Medina in the previous two rounds, Robinson was set to face Italian surfer Leonardo Fioravanti. Throughout the final rounds, the two surfers faced low-scoring waves. However, in the 11th minute of the competition, Robinson performed a forehand, two-turn combination, earning a solid 6-pointer in his fifth wave and emerging victorious.

Moreover, as this was his first Billabong Pro Pipeline, he expressed his happiness by saying that it was his dream to win the championship and that he was absolutely honored.
