While humans continue towards a brighter and technological future, they often tend to neglect other species in doing so. Hence, when American veteran surfer Kelly Slater, who is also an environmentalist, could not stop himself from sharing an absolutely heartbreaking “orca” video on his social media.

Alongside, Slater has also made a special request to the Prime Minister of Canada, asking him to help in the betterment of the beautiful sea creature.

The 11-time World Champion Slater has always been opinionated about saving marine life and its creatures. He recently shared an Instagram post on his story. The post addressed an issue related to an orca named Kiska, in his neighboring country.

He also tagged PM Justin Trudeau in this story and urged him to look into the situation. Slater wrote, “@justinpjtrudeau should really do something about this cruelty in his country.”

In the video, user ‘walrus_whisperer’ mentioned that Kiska is the only surviving orca since 2011 in MarineLand, Canada. “Aerial footage taken above MarineLand, Canada, and their last surviving orca Kiska. #FreeKiska” the caption read.

In order to entertain humans, these adorable creatures are forced to live in a compact environment, like a pool, rather than in their natural habitat. This also negatively impacts the animals’ health and contributes to their extinction. With surfer like Slater on board for the #FreeKiska initiative, hopefully, it will gain more people’s attention, mainly PM Trudeau.

While many will appreciate Slater’s help to spread awareness about sea mammals, he once also faced trouble due to his comments on this dangerous fish.

No matter how brutal the attack was, in the end, Slater’s comments on the sea creature did not sit well with people, and he faced a lot of backlash for his statement. Hence, the environmentalists soon realized his mistake and publicly apologized for his harsh comment. Later, Slater also promised to find better solutions for such accidents using the help of advanced technology and science.
