“Watched My Dad Die From Cancer”: Surfing Legend Reveals a Saddening Fact While Justifying 2000% Return on Investment in Health

Health is wealth, and most people must have heard of this saying. But when young, sometimes one might not understand the complexity and importance of it. However, as time passes, people start to realize the practicality of these words. Moreover, health becomes an even more vital prospect when one is a sportsperson. While discussing health tips, surfing legend, Kelly Slater, shares his thoughts on the importance of health from his own experiences. In the YouTube video uploaded by Jason Gilbert, Slater reveals his father’s condition and gives precious advice to everyone.

Moreover, King Kelly also supported the study of Harvard to put the point of health in the video. Here’s what he said.

Investments are done to enjoy profits in the future, and there are several types of them, to name a few -stock market, mutual funds, real estate, bonds, ETFs, etc. All these might give a good rate of return in a few years. However, there is another investment that can provide a much more hefty return, moreover, it will also increase the quality of life. This is what Kelly Slater talked about in the videoWhile speaking with Gilbert, Slater said, “Food allergy tests, different blood tests, inflammation. I mean, why else you have money? You know, you should spend money on yourself for your health.”

To continue, Gilbert disclosed a fact. He said, “They say that in investment in health is a 2000% return. This is a Harvard study from years ago.” Kelly Slater, who lost his father to cancer, knew how true this statement is. Further, Slater justified this statement with a little story. He said, “I watched my dad die from cancer. It was really hard to see, but at the same time, he talked a lot about quality of life and the protocols he was doing and how he didn’t want to do certain things that we’re gonna, that’s the change what quality life you have.”

Further, he connected the dots of enjoying life and health together as he continued, “So at some point, we all get to this point where, I mean you can die suddenly from something, get a car accident or whatever, but if you realise your health is diminishing and you have to make choices in order to figure out how you can enjoy the most out of life when you have the thing, and you are ultimately going to die then the path, I’m not saying is clear but you definitely make decisive action to improve your life.”

Slater is 51 years old, yet he is extremely fit and still competes internationally. Although it has only been a year or so, the change to the vegan diet has had its effect.

Surfing legend changed with the trend

Yes, the vegan diet is a trend. But it has undoubtedly helped people around the globe to get better in their health, and Slater is also among them. The surfing legend, who has been surfing for nearly more than three decades now, adopted a vegan diet last year. And he seemed to be pretty happy about this health investment he did.

After he adopted the diet, he posted several Instagram stories to reveal his satisfaction. He even disclosed that he is happy with better digestion and can eat more variety of healthy food now. These are the kind of small investments that have to be done as the body changes with age.
