Death of Five-Year-Old Forms Dark Clouds Over Swimming World as Recent Adventure Leads to Drowning

What are family vacations for, but to indulge in fun and frolic with your loved ones? And on summer vacations, a swimming pool is usually where it all begins. However, a convivial holiday can soon turn into a nightmare, especially when small kids and pools are involved. A similar mishap that occurred at a posh resort took the life of an innocent 5-year-old.

There are an estimated 320,000 annual drowning deaths worldwide. The highest drowning rates are recorded among children aged 1-4 followed by 5-9 years old. Unfortunately, Robin Caliskal also became a part of this statistic while he was swimming with his family at a resort in Cornwall. The incident took place merely an hour after the family arrived at the resort. Despite emergency services being called, the little boy could not be saved.

Swimming catastrophe steals precious life

The 5-year-old Robin Caliskal got into the swimming pool at the Atlantic Reach holiday park in Newquay with his 6-month-old brother. The young boy and his parents, Ferzane and Cemal Caliskal, had put up camp and were ready to bask in the water. Cemal and Robin were in the main part of the swimming pool, and his wife was calling them over to the children’s pool. However, in the meantime, the 5-year-old started drowning, unbeknownst to his father. The young one’s parents are devastated after the swimming pool drowning.

According to a report by The Guardian, Camel said that there were barriers and low lighting due to which he did not immediately realize that his son was in distress under the water. The parents said, “This can’t happen again. We are suffering pain and we don’t want any parents to have a similar feeling.” There is no suspicion surrounding the cause of death as of now, but the Devon and Cornwall police and Cornwall Council Health and Safety are investigating the matter. Robin’s mother, meanwhile, remembers the “very cute and clever” son that she lost to the swimming accident.

When Robin Caliskal was drowning, a call was made to emergency services. According to a statement by the Devon and Cornwall Police, “Police were informed by the ambulance service that a five-year-old boy had drowned in a swimming pool within Atlantic Reach holiday park, yesterday afternoon.” While medics arrived on the scene and tried to resuscitate, the little boy could not be saved. The resort was equally heartbroken at the tragic incident and has closed the pools for now. A similar incident came to light involving the 2-year-old daughter of a famous NFL player.

A slew of gut-wrenching drownings

The NFL linebacker Shaquil Barrett suffered through a fate that no father would want to. He lost his beloved 2-year-old daughter to a similar incident that took the life of Robin Caliskal. Even though he and his wife had taken necessary precautions, the toddler somehow got inside the swimming pool and as a result, died. Even though he is devastated by the horrible demise, Shaquil has decided to put his hard-earned money for the betterment of people.

The Buccaneers player has decided to open a foundation under his daughter’s name, to educate parents around the world regarding water safety. He is going to name the foundation Arrayah Hope Inc. after his late 2-year-old. The deaths of these two young lights prove that there needs to be an increased level of precaution as well as attention when it comes to little children and swimming pools.
